Visual Communication
I’ve always been a visual guy. Instead of reading a book, I’d rather watch a movie or play a video game. I’m much better learning something when I do it or see it in front of me rather than reading it out of a textbook. The same goes for ads or anything else trying to reach me, I don't have an answer for why, but if you need something to stick with me it absolutely has a better chance if it is some form of visual communication.
The most important forms of visual communication for me are the image itself and the colors that accompany it. The reason I say color is important is because color can attract your eyes to something even before you even realize what you're looking at. If something pops out, it already did its job and grabbed your attention, which is color job. The reason why I’d say Image is equally important is while it was colors job for the initial attention grab, if the image accompanying the cool color isn't pleasing or captivating, it will almost certainly lose you in a matter of seconds. The image needs to do something to keep what it’s trying to convey or make you feel stick with you for more than it’s initial viewing. Two Images that come to mind for me are Captain America standing alone versus Thanos’s army in Avengers Endgame, and the old crazy, pink and blue iPod Silhouette ad.
Now that we're on the subject of the iPod ad, this iPod ad is one I will always remember. Its colors pop with the contrast of the bright neon pink background with the blue silhouette dancing with the white iPod. This came out years ago and It’s an ad i will always remember. It just pops which almost always demands.
iPod Girl
Another ad that sticks out is one from a few years ago during an early season of Game of Thrones. It was in a newspaper, which shows it age, but it showed the silhouette of the dragon from that seasons poster flying above. This really pops, mainly since there is no way to avoid it, but because of how creative this is. I don't know many ads like this which helps draw attention to it as well.
Game of Thrones
Last Ad is for Disney’s new Disney Plus Program. It’s pretty basic, but you have the nice colorful purple blue in the background, which helps make the Disney Logo Pop. It also then just have the logos for Marvel and Star Wars, which for a lot of people in this day and age is all they need to sell the new service, and Disney knows this. This is why all they have is the logos and they're under the Disney name, to show that they exist in Disney’s vast umbrella.
